Operating for less
than 5 years
Raised less than US$20 million in funding to date
Funding currently between
Seed and Series C stages
Have an innovative product or service
Desire to make Hong Kong part of your future plans

Complete the online application and submit your proposal following the below specifications.

On Pitch Day
Present your business pitch ideas in either English, Cantonese or Mandarin
Present your pitch deck in English only
Our pitch timer will begin once you start your pitch on stage

20-30 startups are selected for each Semi-Pitch location


Day 1: 1-on-1 Pitch

12 mins of pitch time is given to each startup

  • 5 mins for presentation
  • 7 mins for judges Q&A session

Top 8 startups are selected to pitch on Day 2


Day 2: Pitch on Stage

8 mins of pitch time is given to each startup

  • 5 mins for presentation
  • 3 mins for judges Q&A session

Top 5 startups are selected as finalists to pitch

8 mins of pitch time is given to each finalist

Top 5 finalists are entitled to an investment commitment up to USD 5million

  • Evidence of innovative advances in product / service / application / adoption etc.
  • Potential to disrupt the relevant industry
  • Value proposition

Market Potential and Business Model (20%)

  • How will the idea generate revenue?
  • Competitiveness, barriers to entry, first mover advantages etc.
  • Unit economics and scalability

Team Background and Strengths (20%)

  • Capabilities and expertise to execute the business plan
  • Passion, ambition, vision, culture

Traction and Further Development Plan (20%)

  • Operation and financial metrics, milestones and achievements since inception
  • Forecast and product roadmap

Social Impact and Hong Kong Nexus (20%)

  • Contribution to general wellbeing of wider society
  • How will you utilise Hong Kong to expand the business?
  • Evidence of existing or future operation plans in Hong Kong

Startups will be selected and ranked by a panel of high-profile and experienced business leaders, including:

  • Investors from international enterprises
  • Investment Directors of Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund
  • Senior executives of Alibaba Group
  • Established entrepreneurs
  • Key incubators and accelerators
