Ben Lim

Ben Lim is the Managing Partner at NEXEA, an early Startup Accelerator, Angel Network and Venture Capital. NEXEA has invested in more than 35 Startups across Southeast Asia and is known for creating value in their investments. NEXEA is backed by experienced entrepreneurs who have done their M&As and IPOs or are CEOs of publicly listed companies. More importantly, they want to give back to the next wave of entrepreneurs.

Ben founded NEXEA together with a few partners and has since managed the deal flow and investments into Startups. He also ran 3 Accelerator programs with Watchtower & Friends and Sunway iLabs and a few other corporate partners like AWS, Google Cloud, IBM, Microsoft Cloud and Digital Ocean.

Ben has deep experience in validating Startups from MVP to investability, as well as fundraising for Startups. He has advised over 1000 Startups in fundraising and the fundamentals of a Startup over the years.

Dato’ Ng Wan Peng

Dato’ Ng Wan Peng is the COO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). MDEC is a government-owned agency to pioneer the transformation of Malaysia’s digital economy, responsible for the development, coordination, and promotion of Malaysia’s digital economy, information and communications technology (ICT) industry, and the extensive use of ICT in Malaysia.

Dato’ Ng Wan Peng is no stranger to anyone involved in the ICT business in Malaysia. After graduating from Universiti Sains Malaysia in the nineties, she joined SAPURA as a systems engineer where she moved up the ranks as project manager, program manager before leaving to join MDEC (previously known as Multimedia Development Corporation) in 1999. Since then she has been a core and pioneer member of MDEC initiatives. Today, as the COO, she is responsible for strategic execution of MDEC’s initiatives to support digital economy, including: 1. Attracting investors, globalising local tech champions; 2. Catalysing industry-driven digital ecosystem; 3. Building critical enablers of the digital economy, and 4. Driving inclusive adoption of technology.

She has more than 25 years’ Industry experience in managing large-scale projects, in the areas of Strategic IT Planning, Project Management, Systems Integration, and Methodologies Development. Dato’ Ng has been consulted for both private and public sector organizations in IT policy and project implementation across government, defense and education sectors in Malaysia and abroad.

In 2015, Dato’ Ng Wan Peng was conferred Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (D.S.P.N) by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in recognition of her leadership, dedication and positive contributions to drive and expand digital economy’s footprint in Malaysia and globally.

Elain Lockman

Co-Founder & Director, Ata Plus

Elain Lockman is the Co-Founder and Director in Ata Plus, a Malaysian licensed Equity, Crowdfunding platform. Upbeat and optimistic, she believes nothing isimpossible and all challenges are just another form of opportunities. This proves to be the fuel in her 23-year career in the areas of management, business strategy, human resource, business development, relationship management, marketing and corporate communications. She has served notable organisations, namely Petronas, MDeC, Malaysia Debt Ventures, DiGi Telecommunications and Packet One Networks. She currently sits on the Board of Western Union Payments Malaysia and was the Chairman of Western Union Internal Audit Committee, while being actively involved in the start-up community, advising entrepreneurs in funding, strategy and operations.

Elain is also the President of the Registered Digital Markets Association Malaysia. She is instrumental in establishing Ata Plus’ partnerships, deal screening and operations framework. In March 2019, she was presented the BERG 2019 Women Icons Malaysia as a recognition for her contribution, achievements and leadership in Fintech. Elain graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in Actuarial Science and MSc in Operational Research.

Jamaludin Bujang

Jamaludin Bujang has 18 years of corporate experience in the private sector and 5 years of experience in the public sector. He was appointed as the CEO and Board Member of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd. (MAVCAP) on 1 Nov 2011. He worked with 2 foreign-based finance institutions for a cumulative period of 3 years and spent 13 years in Malaysia's leading investment bank, with extensive exposure to investment banking, particularly in equity research, asset and investment evaluation, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions. Senior management expertise gained from leading a support division (in finance, legal, corporate communications & planning, CT and administration) has sharpened his technical and public relations skills. His tenure in a leading investment bank saw his participation in formulating and implementing sound investment strategies and initiatives.

Prior to joining MAVCAP, Jamaludin was the Director Investment Division Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) where he led the Evaluation & Nurturing and the Monitoring & Compliance departments. He was responsible for corporate topline KPIs as well as achieving targets for dealflow, portfolio performance, CSR and others. He was tasked to evaluate investment proposals from various sectors of the economy. During his tenure in MTDC, he initiated and executed the implementation of investment database system.

Jamaludin graduated with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration (Economics) from Wichita State University, Kansas, United States and a Masters degree in Business Law (Executive) from International Islamic University, Kuala Lumpur.

Jayne Chan is Head of StartmeupHK at InvestHK, the government department responsible for attracting and retaining Foreign Direct Investment into Hong Kong. StartmeupHK is InvestHK’s startup division established in 2014, aimed at attracting innovative startups, investors and other stakeholders to Hong Kong, provide a one-stop service platform to support these companies setting up in the city, promote Hong Kong as a premier startup destination and help build our ecosystem to transform the city into a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

The StartmeupHK Festival is one of the key platforms organised by the team to attract international startup communities to Hong Kong, to share and network with local innovators, corporates and showcase the city’s success stories. The annual event in January 2018 attracted over 6,000 participants, and representation from over 40 countries, with events in key sectors where Hong Kong has distinct competitive advantages, namely financial technology (fintech), Internet of thing (IOT), health technology, retail technology and smart city.

Prior to joining InvestHK, Jayne was Executive Director at the HK chapter of TiE, a global non-profit network focused on fostering entrepreneurship in the markets in which they operate, and management roles at advertising & digital agencies, startup incubator, management consulting and manufacturing companies.

Kenny Tan

Kenny Tan is currently General Manager at Alibaba Cloud Malaysia. With over ten years of management experience, he plays a fundamental role in driving digital transformation for key clients in various industry verticals such as aviation, government, enterprise and the financial sector. Tan has a deep passion for the Cloud Computing, big data and AI, and is enthusiastic about using the technology to empower governments and businesses for greater productivity and operational efficiencies.

Previously working in IBM, Kenny is a veteran of the technology industry with a proven track record in driving business success for both enterprise and start-ups. His recent projects include developing ecosystems, enhancing cloud security and solutions for businesses and bringing innovative big data and machine learning technologies to ASEAN.

Kenny graduated from Deakin University with a degree in Computer Science / Information Technology.

Kwee Bee Chok is a Partner in Intres Capital Partners. She is also the Managing Director of Teak Capital Sdn Bhd, a venture capital management company. Prior to that, she was with Walden International, a Silicon Valley based venture capital firm, overseeing the operations and investments of Walden International and BI Walden in Malaysia. Before becoming a VC, she was Head of Corporate Finance at AmInvestment Bank.

Kwee Bee is currently a member of the Malaysian Venture Capital Development Council (MVCDC) which was formed under the auspices of the Securities Commission; a non executive Board member of the Audit Oversight Board, a non executive Board member of Hong Leong Bank Berhad and a Management Committee Member of MVCA. Michael Chan

Michael Chan is Senior Vice President of the Global Issuer Services of HKEX who heads the international issuer marketing efforts. Michael is mainly focused on market development work promoting the Hong Kong listing platform and origination work attracting international and biotechnology companies to list in Hong Kong. Rajesh Geetakrishnan is currently the Head of Product, Global Liquidity and Cash Management for HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad. He brings along with him, more than 20 years of banking experience across retail and corporate banking.

Rajesh has held leadership roles with HSBC group since 2014 and has worked across three different markets in Asia.

Sai Kit Ng

Sai Kit Ng is the Chief Executive of Captii Ventures, a venture capital company that he helped set up in late 2014. Captii Ventures is now a multistage investor in technology companies in Southeast Asia with portfolio companies in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam.

Besides heading venture investment activities, Sai Kit has also been involved in M&A, investments and corporate restructuring activities, as well as leading a digital and mobile advertising business within the Captii Group. He has also held audit, financial advisory and corporate finance roles in PwC, CIMB and other corporations across various industries including manufacturing, property development, financial advisory, food services, utility services and investment banking.

He is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK.

在中國,Tom帶領的戈壁團隊成為了Airwallex,點我達,氪空間,途牛及UR等的早期投資者。除此之外,Tom曾四度獲評為福布斯“中國最佳風險投資人” .Tom亦於2007年至2009年年擔任DMG集團的CEO兼董事,並打造了史上首部地鐵新媒體劇,由黃曉明主演。香港方面,Tom也帶領戈壁管理阿里巴巴香港創業者基金的團隊,代表性投資組合有日日煮,GoGoVan,WeLab等。

Tom於2015年年舉家搬遷到吉隆坡,並與大馬VC領頭羊MAVCAP合作設立三支東南亞基金。至今,戈壁東南亞一共投資了近50個項目(包括Carsome,Hermo,發條等)。他亦獨創「 TaqwaTech」一詞 - 意即專為穆斯林人群服務的行業這也是戈壁東南亞的重點投資領域。
